strong class="location">ISLAMABAD: The Mardankhel-2 well will increase domestic gas output by 12 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD), besides adding 1,400 barrel of condensates to the national energy grid, the Hungarian oil and gas exploration company MOL said in a statement here on Thursday.

According to the statement, MOL Group’s Executive Vice-President (Upstream) Dr Berislav Gaso concluded his visit to Pakistan during which he discussed with government officials business prospects in Pakistan’s energy sector and ways and means for promoting public-private partnership.

During his stay in Pakistan, the press release stated, Dr Berislav Gaso held meetings with Minister for Energy (Petroleum Division) Ghulam Sarwar Khan and Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi.

Dr. Gaso apprised government officials about the recent commissioning of the Mardankhel-2 well.

MOL’s eandeavours, the press release stated, were appreciated by the Minister of Energy.

Terming Pakistan an important asset for the MOL Group, the press release quoted Dr Gaso as saying that the company was looking forward to further expanding its business in the country.

In the meantime, the State Minister for Interior lauded MOL Pakistan’s contributions in promoting growth and employment opportunities, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and offered support to other business ventures proposed by the company.

Dr Gaso appreciated the government efforts in supporting MOL’s endeavors in operational areas.

On this occasion, the company’s Regional Vice-President (Middle East, Africa and Pakistan) Ali Murtaza Abbas said: “Tal Joint Venture Partners have invested more than $2 billion in Pakistan and look forward to making healthy contributions towards the country’s energy needs.”

MOL Pakistan’s Managing Director Dr Gabor Vakarcs briefed Dr Gaso about the company’s ongoing projects in various parts of the country. Dr Berislav Gaso also chaired a cake-cutting ceremony in connection with the commissioning of the Mardankhel-2 Well.
